Feb. 24, 2020
From March 2, 2020, companies within SMEs can apply for grants every year within the Incentive scheme for learning and development in SMEs. (SLIM Scheme). This grant is intended for initiatives aimed at stimulating employee learning and development in SMEs. The government makes €48 million available annually for this purpose.
For large companies in the hospitality, agriculture and recreation sectors, €1.2 million will be released so that they too can claim this subsidy.
Traditionally, it has been less common within SMEs for employees to keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date during their working lives. In this often small-scale businesses have employers often have less knowledge, time and money to encourage and supervise such processes.
Even in the recreation, hospitality and agriculture sectors, where seasonal and flexible work is common, it is time-consuming and costly to develop and supervise such a learning environment.
The SLIM scheme contributes to better learning environment. The SLIM scheme is applicable to:
- individual SMEs
- partnerships in SMEs
- the large companies from the agriculture, hospitality and recreation sectors
- Parties may, as of March 2, 2020, grant applications for all kinds of initiatives focused on learning and development. Consider:
- Research training and education needs so that you can encourage and facilitate your employees in them.
- Developing career advice for employees.
- Initiatives aimed at developing or introducing Of a method that employees encourages further development of their knowledge, skills and professional attitudes.
- Establishing a business school
- Develop and implement a system of periodic development interviews with employees.
- Providing a hands-on apprenticeship for (parts of) an MBO course in the third level.
